Expanded Funding for HIE Connectivity

Health Information Exchange Funding Expanded

CMS and ONC recently announced an initiative to connect a variety of providers to health information exchanges, expanding the list of eligible providers to include long-term care, behavioral health, and substance abuse treatment providers. The funding will increase the sustainability of HIEs and support improved access for categories of providers that have been slow to adopt HIE technology. This is good news for providers who have had setbacks due to budgeting. This is even better news for patients as data sharing capabilities expand over the next few years.

Here is a new infographic that highlights the details of this new announcement of funds.
