Reporting MU and MACRA Together

Reporting MU and MACRA Together

The last few months have brought a ton of change to the CMS EHR Incentive Programs. New programs and payment models have been introduced and we are saying goodbye to some of the programs that have been around for half a decade.

We have a breakdown of the new programs here and make sure you sign up for our MACRA webinar here.

One question that I haven’t been asked yet, but is extremely important is “Do we continue with the current EHR Incentive program or so we abandon ship and set sail with the new ones?”

Well, the answer is a little unclear right now.

We do know that providers SHOULD still monitor and attest for Meaningful Use every year until their incentive money runs out.

Yes, this means that you will need to monitor your MU measures as well as the MACRA measures for a period of time.

The bad news? This means more work for admins and providers. The good news? Hopefully more incentive payments for the practice.

Now we run into the concern that some of the measures of each program contradict each other because they have different thresholds. Basically, providers should aim at preforming as best as they possibly can on all measures to assure they meet the requirements for both programs.

Hopefully CMS will announce clearer guidelines on how to navigate through both programs at once. Stay tuned!
