MACRA Update: CMS Announces 90-Day Reporting and Pick-Your-Pace Options

MACRA updateLast week, CMS announced that the MACRA reporting period will indeed begin on January 1, 2017. There was some chatter that the start date might be delayed, but CMS has decided to move forward with the original date. The good news? CMS added flexible, part-year reporting to help practices transition to MACRA. The update means that clinicians will have the option to participate in a full year of reporting or just 90 days.

Andy Slavitt, acting Administrator of CMS, discussed payment penalties for 2017. CMS is holding firm that practices and organizations will receive a -4% payment adjustment if they choose to report nothing in 2017, so it’s important that you keep going on your transition plans, or if you haven’t yet started, it’s time to get going ASAP. According to his blog post, the final rule will be released by November 1, 2016. To keep up with the latest on MACRA, make sure to read the eMedApps blog or follow us on social channels.
